What Semestra stores
Semestra stores the information you enter: your first name (optional), study type and timezone; your semesters, subjects or units, assessments, resources and calendar events; and details of calendar files you import (source name and provider, event titles, times and descriptions).
Your account is identified by your email address, used for sign-in, email confirmation and password reset. If you explicitly permit contact on a feedback report, that report also stores your account email.
Calendar imports
Calendar (.ics) files you choose to import are read and parsed in your browser. Semestra saves the resulting events — titles, times, descriptions and course codes — to your account so they appear on your dashboard and calendar. The original file is not uploaded or stored.
Semestra does not connect to your LMS or calendar provider and does not sync continuously. Re-importing a file is always something you choose to do.
Semestra also saves your tracking and historical completion choices. Assumed completed is an optional, reversible inference based on an old deadline; confirmed completion is your explicit statement. Neither is a check of LMS submission.
Who can see your data
Your study records are private to your account and protected by row-level security. Feedback reports are visible to you and designated Semestra administrators, who can review reports and change their review status. Students cannot read other students' reports or grant themselves administrator access.
Private beta feedback
Signed-in students can send a bug report, improvement idea or general feedback. Reports store your description, category, optional severity and steps, a sanitized page path, an opaque account ID, and any optional beta answers you choose to give. Your account email is stored on that report only with your explicit permission to contact you. Reports have a reference ID, timestamps and review status.
No screenshots, form contents, calendar events, LMS URLs, query parameters, console logs or stack traces are attached automatically. Do not paste passwords, private calendar links or other people's information. Feedback is not emailed automatically, and a response is not guaranteed. Beta summaries count reports and optional self-reported answers, not verified usage or completed testers.
Your reports are included in Download my data and removed when you delete your account. A suggested retention period is to remove resolved reports 90 days after the beta ends; this is a proposal for owner review, not an active automatic deletion schedule.
Export and deletion
You can download a copy of everything Semestra holds about you at any time from Settings → Account & privacy → Download my data. The export is a JSON file generated in your browser.
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Danger zone. Deletion removes your feedback, administrator designation if any, profile, semesters, subjects, assessments, resources, calendar events, import sources, subject mappings and tracking preferences, and then removes your sign-in. Failures are reported; deletion can be partial if a later step fails.
Retention
Your data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your application data is removed immediately. Routine platform backups may retain copies for a limited period before they cycle out.
Third-party services
Semestra runs on Lovable Cloud, which provides hosting, the database and sign-in (including email delivery for confirmation and password reset messages). No advertising, analytics or tracking services are used.
